Therapeutic Skills & Recreation Program (6-weeks)
This program spans the course of 6-weeks. Participants will meet weekly on Thursdays from May 7 to June 11. Program time will be 5:30-7:30pm. The theme of this 6-week program is Anime! We will be watching 2 episodes of “My Hero Academia”, discussing what the characters were going through, doing an activity that ties into the theme, and then debriefing how everything went. The weekly themes will include growth mindset & self-belief, persistence & resilience, teamwork and communication, emotional regulation, and identity and values. There will be popcorn provided, we ask that participants bring a water bottle. The last program will be a sushi party.
Age Range: 14-17
Expectations of Participants
- Participants must be willing to watch the anime “My Hero academia” We will be watching 2 twenty-minute episodes per session with a 5 minute break in between.
- Participants will need to try to be respectful to others watching and try to keep noise down.
- Participants will be expected to treat themselves, other participants and staff with respect.
- Participants will be asked to take part in activities, games, and discussions. This will always be by challenge by choice and participants never need to participate if they are uncomfortable doing so.
Expectations of Parents:
- We do ask parents to bring their child to every session of the 6-week program.
- We ask parents of a child that has not been to NAC before to wait on site during the first session and possibly the second and third program if needed.
- The show we are watching is rated TV-14. Parents are required to read a list of questionable material found in the show and sign a consent form.
